Anyone else having a slow day before the holiday weekend? Well here’s a video of Sporting Kansas City’s Dom Dwyer and Soony Saad.
In slow motion.
With sexy music playing in the background.
Created by the YouTube Channel of The Distrubutor Network, presumably to mark Dom Dwyer’s return to Sporting after being on loan to Orlando City SC and reuniting one of Major League Soccer’s great bromances.
More Major League Soccer supporters groups had pride and anti-homophobia displays in the stands this past weekend. It’s all part of marking the International Day Against Homophobia that took place on May 17.
The New England Revolution shut out Toronto FC 2-0 Saturday and the Midnight Riders put on a huge display boasting marriage equality in all of the states in that corner of the country. The Comcast Sports Network gave them recognition on their broadcast of the match:
Sporting Kansas City was the biggest success last year during our May ally recruitment drive. Could today be another boon as we ask players to join?
Last year was great, but players leave a team for a number of reasons. Sporting only has three allies remaining who all joined during last year’s push: Kevin Ellis, Jon Kempin, and Jimmy Nielsen.
Last year six Sporting players joined, more than any day yet this year. Help match that number this year by helping reach out to the players below. We’ll check our @gay4soccer handle and #soccerally hashtag for responses. And with matches tonight, don’t forget to also ask players in person when you can.
Sporting Kansas City releases a new primary jersey that truly celebrates their region being bi(state) and is the first to feature their new sponsor.
I did not like the early leaked images of this kit. Without the jersey sponsor on the first the front was pretty much a barren wasteland, but now it has the simple and classy Ivy Funds logo. Without it there the negative/positive image looked overly forced, but all put together it works. The diagonal is a nice nod to the Kansas City area straddling both sides of that line, in Kansas and Missouri. The jersey also gets originality points for being the only one to have adidas’ signature three stripes in different colors on each sleeve.
And damn, look how fine Zusi looks in the thing. Although I promise that didn’t factor at all into my opinion of it. Really.
Congratulations to Sporting Kansas City for winning the 2012 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, the first for the state of Kansas.
US Soccer brings us the highlights:
Tonight the Seattle Sounders take on Sporting Kansas City in the Final of the 2012 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. Will it be a four-in-a-row for Seattle, or will Sporting bring Kansas its first championship in their first appearance in the final since their 2004 win?
Major League Soccer previewed the match with members from both teams:
Courtesy of our friends in the KC Cauldron, here are a few images from Sporting Kansas City’s victory over the San Jose Earthquakes that was the club’s part of celebrating the city’s Pride Week:
Kudos again to Sporting Kansas City for hosting the “Sport Your Pride” event and to the Cauldron for marking the occasion in the supporters’ section!
Our first day of Soccer Ally May was great. We’re starting off with the teams that don’t have any players on the list yet and yesterday the Columbus Crew went from zero players to having Rich Balchan, Dilly Duka, Chad Marshall, Aaron Schoenfeld, and Josh Williams all joining the list.
Today we focus on Sporting Kansas City, also starting off the month with no players on the list. But as a club they’re taking the huge step of making a match at the end of the month a part of Kansas City’s Pride festivities.
Sporting KC also boasts a huge roster of players who are on Twitter so help us out by asking all the guys below to be a #soccerally today. Have them Tweet at us or use that hash tag – we’ll be keeping an eye on both all day.
Sporting Kansas City has partnered with Show-Me Pride to help kick off Pride Week in Kansas City with their match against San Jose on May 27th!
We’ll continue to bring you the latest as the date approaches! We’re very proud of Sporting KC for taking this great step!
