British FA and Partners to Offer LGBT-Specific Soccer Coaching Training This Month

As part of efforts to increase LGBT inclusion in British soccer, the FA along with Pride Sports and the Surrey County FA are hosting an intensive four-day coaching training this month aimed at the LGBT community.

The residential course will guide participants through all of the workshops and training necessary to attain a first level coaching qualification.

It’s an amazing step to increase LGBT involvement in soccer and it will be interesting to see if US Soccer ever steps up with any sort of LGBT-inclusive messaging or programs.

Major League Soccer: America’s Most Pro-LGBT Men’s Pro League

So says RantSports.com’s Jessica Luther in a follow-up piece about Major League Soccer cutting ties with the Boy Scouts of America:

Major League Soccer, more than any other men’s professional sports league in the US, has been a vocal proponent of LGBT equality. In May, when it announced that it would participate in the “You Can Play” project, which works to end homophobia in sports culture, MLS executive vice president JoAnn Neale said, “MLS W.O.R.K.S. [the league’s charitable arm] is committed to working alongside groups that support LGBT causes and equality.”
