Anton’s success on this show just shows the kind of exposure having an out star can bring to soccer and we’re all proud of him and rooting for him.

Out Swedish pro soccer player Anton Hysén began his night job this past weekend as he became a contestant on the new season of “Let’s Dance,” their version of “Dancing with the Stars.”

Anton Hysén – One Year Out
Today marks the one year anniversary since Swedish pro soccer player Anton Hysén came out publicly to the media.
The first male pro player to come out in 21 years, Hysén remains the only out man to take the field professionally.
Thank you for your courage in this past year Anton, and thank you for being a good friend to gay4soccer. Hopefully our wait won’t be another two decades for the next out man to play the game professionally, and hopefully we will see you or someone else out play in MLS very soon.
