Seattle Sounders: Jersey Week 2013

I have been on the edge of my seat waiting for the new Seattle Sounders jerseys. The last few times we have changed jerseys went from classic Seattle sports team to 13-year-olds in training bras. Then from one highlighter color to another highlighter colored jersey. So it is with fear and anticipation that I look at these new jerseys.

Now this is where the classy ladies come out and play. For our 5th season I feel we are showing our age and experience. But of course you have to pay for it. The authentic jersey has so much amazing style and great colors. The replica is great, but bland. The splash of color on the left side, love the blue and green pole. What more is there to say? Oh wait, Brad Evans. Looking at Brad on the ad campaign, whoa love it! Sweaty, sexy, rugged man in rumpled jersey delicates. Can a gay man dream for anything better? Well maybe being able to take it off of him.

Gay in Soccer

Win, lose, or draw, we are supporters! Last year when Vancouver sucked, New England sucked, who cared? Their fans  Maybe. Who were the ones that were there through thick and thin chanting, singing, and showing their team colors and spirit? The supporters! In the supporters section you have the dedicated, die hard, and sometimes rabid fans. You also have a family.

We are your non-traditional yet dysfunctional family. Your doting, over protective mother. Your sexy incestuous cousin (whom you wish you weren’t related to). The siblings you love, and in-laws you wish you could do without. The crazy, loud, obnoxious uncle to whom you’re not sure how you’re related. And your pushy well-meaning father.

Now for my supporters group we’ve got all of that and then some! We have the people that fight over “their gays.” They want to protect us, include us, and sometime unintentionally tokenize us.

No Greater Bond

Ok, so I know what you’re thinking. Why has there been no Sounders news lately? I have just been busy; you might see a recurring theme in my next few posts. Family, supporters, personal responsibility. There was a death in the Sounders and Emerald City Supporters family recently. On February 29th One of the eternal blue forever green lost his battle with — as he called it “The Beast” — melanoma.

Yes this is a gay soccer blog, not my personal blog. So why would I bring this up? Because part of what we are doing is bringing a voice to those that can’t don’t or won’t speak up. To talk about a marginalized people. So what better place than to talk about loss of a great man who many will never know but was/is well loved by his (soccer) community?

The Amazing Race Week 1 Recap

I can’t wait for March! I am dying to see MLS action. On Sunday my Twitter timeline was blowing all evening. Why? Was there another match? Heaven forbid another trade. None of those, but something to help with the MLS offseason boredom.

A professional soccer player, the very attractive and athletic  goalkeeper Andrew Weber, is on The Amazing Race Season 20. He is currently in Florida at the Seattle  Sounders FC’s training camp. He and his musical twin brother Elliot are racing around the world with the show for a million dollars.

Seattle Trades are Done…Time to Drink!!!

Ok…where to start this post???

**Warning the following is from an upset and soon-to-be drunk Sounders fan.**

Please pardon me as I grab a shot of whiskey… Tequila… Rum… What the hell one of everything!!!

This is almost as bad as black Tuesday when we lost Riley, Wahl, Boss, and Arlo White.

This is a big blow! Not only do we lose two players for the price of one, we get a Europe reject trying to come back to MLS in an attempt to gain favor with the National Team.

I loved see Mike grow and enjoyed seeing his cute big butt running up and down the pitch.

Now to my hometown boy Lamar! This is what has me so upset. He is a great player and a great guy. He is a local guy. From Federal Way. Really close to where I live. He was drafted in 2009, and sent to Charleston Battery to develop. Then sent to Europe. Then in 2011 after camp he was signed to the first team. When I met him for the first time I said he was doing a good job and I can’t wait to see him grow as a player… that’s all before his hat trick, and amazing season! Now I’ll have to watch from afar.

Damn it! Just know Lamar I’ll be rooting for you always! A fan for life. Let me know when you’re in town. Love to take you to dinner and/or a drink!

I wish the Impact luck with their Sounders as they now have 5 alumni.

Dear Mister Johnson, you have big shoes to fill. If you feel up to it, I’m glad and I really wanna see this go well! I also have Lamar’s match-worn and signed boots. If you wanna give me yours too that might help to ease my pain.

I don’t envy you. This is a hard place to be put! The best of luck to you good sir. Welcome to the team and to Seattle! Lets go out there and put on a good show.

Sigi I trust you…but please don’t lose your mind like Nowak.

Tentatively appeased and buzzed until later.

Is it march yet?

Waiting ‘Til March for the Honey Badger

With March still a-ways out I wanted to spend some time othe lighter, fun side of the Sounders. Because I can’t wait. #isitmarchyet  read more…

Jersey Review: The Seattle Sounders’ Third Kit is “Super Cyan”

There is a lot that can be and has been said of the Sounders new third kit. Trust me, the locals already have.

“A worse, gayer highlighter.” “Like Easter threw up.” “We’ve had the yellow highlighter, now the blue one. What’s next? The pink or orange one?” “They didn’t want to lose the electric yellow so they muted it with a crappy blue” read more…
