NYCFC Announces Partnership to Help LGBT Youth
As part of their announcement for their first-ever Pride Day this month, NYCFC also announced support for New York City’s Hetrick-Martin Institute.
HMI is the United States’ oldest organization with a mission to help Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning youth. They also have an extension that serves four counties in Northern New Jersey.
The partnership is more than financial, although Pride Day ticket sales and jersey auction will support HMI. Youth in NYCFC’s City in the Community program will also participate in HMI workshops.
Most Major League Soccer cities have facilities and programs for LGBT youth, so hopefully many partnerships like this will be in teams’ futures.
Other pride announcements were that the team would be at Brooklyn Pride June 10 and a pre-match party at gay sports bar Boxers. Get your NYCFC tickets for Pride Day on June 17 here to make sure a portion of your ticket goes to help HMI.
