Colorado Rapids Introduce Anti-Goal Kick Chant Video

The Colorado Rapids have released a video looking to stop the “puto” chant that often accompanies goal kick chants at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

Goalkeepers Tim Howard and Zac MacMath are joined by coach Pablo Mastroeni in the message to fans. Shared by club president Tim Hinchey on Twitter, it asks fans to stop hateful chants during opposing goal kicks. In-stadium resources to report incidents are also provided.

The personnel in the video are a very cool tactic: using goalkeepers to spread the message that using this word during opposing goal kicks just isn’t acceptable.

With this following Minnesota United FC’s efforts, this is the second time in as many weekends that a club has introduced a video to confront the goal kick chant head-on.
