Pride House 2012 Opens in East London Today
The first ever Pride House at a Summer Olympics Games opens today in the East London neighborhood of Limehouse.
First seen at Vancouver 2010, the Pride House will be both a gathering place for LGBT athletes and fans, and a series of exhibitions, sporting competitions, and panel discussions about greater inclusion of LGBT athletes in Olympic events.
There was some concern that there would not be a Pride House this year after sponsorship difficulties meant cancelling the event at another location, but this new event was able to come together just weeks before the Olympic Games kicked off last week.
A GLBT soccer tournament in London will be a part of the Pride House program this Sunday, August 5.
