NPR Story and Commentary on Megan Rapinoe’s Coming Out
I had mainly seen web coverage of Megan Rapinoe’s official coming out this week, so when I heard commentary from NPR and WBUR’s Bill Littlefield, I felt it was worth sharing because of its unsurprising quality.
Littlefield hosts NPR’s sports program “Only a Game,” produced by the member station in Boston.
It’s a great commentary that closes:
Some retired male athletes have told the world they are gay. Occasionally a gay high school or college male athlete has come out. But I wonder if this week anybody currently playing in the NBA, the NFL or Major League Baseball is thinking about how he could move things along by becoming his sport’s Megan Rapinoe?
