This weekend during NBC’s National Hockey League coverage PSAs aired for a new group, the You Can Play Project.

Founded by the family of Brendan Burke, the first man to come out in hockey while coaching at Miami University, the aim is to make locker rooms and sports venues safer for GLBT athletes. Toronto Maple Leafs GM Brian Burke and Philadelphia Flyers scout Patrick Burke are Brendan’s family who are among the founders.

This Happy Hour we raise a glass to You Can Play, and we hope we can work with them that the next PSAs to appear during NBC Sports events feature some MLS stars.
