Jersey Review: Portland Timbers Throwback Jersey
There is a lot to be said about the newest jersey that the Timbers have released. In a way this jersey is very retro (minus the Adidas logo) and brings back the Timbers to the time of the NASL days in 1975. The 70′s Timbers colors themselves green, yellow, and neutral white are a great combination and no color is too overpowering.
I love that this jersey has the collared look. It just seems very cool to me and is different and professional. The look itself is amazing because the Timbers not only announced that the jersey would be produced locally but also that it would be made from recyclable materials.
The only thing that I can see people criticizing about the jersey would be the Adidas logo. I feel that leaving the Adidas logo like that doesn’t make the entire jersey retro. If they brought the old school Adidas logo into this, I would suspect people would have no complaints about the jersey itself.
Fun facts about the jersey:
* The timbers logo was the original logo of the Timbers.
* The jersey included a scarf , and picture of the Timbers back in the NASL days, and came in a box that was individually numbered.
* Alaska Airlines brought themselves into the retro look as well.
* (going to say this again to emphasize the point) The Timbers jersey is made out of recyclable material (so they are staying true to themselves on trying to help the environment) .
